The ‘podi’ Protect Project has been set up to help establish a greater harmonious co-existence between humans and the natural wildlife that inhabits our seas and oceans.
Our chief aim is to provide a passive means of protection for people who choose to engage in water-based activity in potentially hazardous environments, without the need for aggressive self-defence.
The key is to ensure protection both for humans and for those marine species – principally members of the shark family – that are currently endangered through human activity.
This objective, along with the secondary aim of mitigating the subsequent ripple effects on tourism, local economies and side-kill, has led to the concept of the ‘Podi’ brand.

The principle behind the ‘podi’ brand is to raise funds to re-invest in the implementation of an ongoing cycle of specialist research and development (R&D), in which our findings are converted into potential solutions and applications of long-term development projects for the achievement of the objectives above.
Improving the human-shark relationship
Through the practical application of those research findings, and by donating funds to partner research organisations around the globe, we would seek to heighten awareness of the environmental issues arising from the plight of marine species affected by the instinctive human response to act in self-defence.
Our international research into the interactions between humans and the shark species – and the consequential fall-out for people and wildlife alike – has yielded ground-breaking data on the huge scale of the losses suffered, while simultaneously identifying a possible route to changing things for the better.
Podi Defence
Our attention has consistently focused on discovering an ‘at arms length’ passive solution that will allow people and wildlife to share the oceans safely without causing and receiving harm. The ‘podi’ breakthrough mitigates loss of life among people who enjoy the benefits of the ocean and the creatures that live there. It maintains a harmonious ecosystem balance while protecting commercial activities to the full, thus creating a win-win situation all round.
We aim to represent a coming together of enthusiastic and passionate oceanic
preservationists who are determined to make a positive difference with our ‘podi’ Protect Project by way of tapping into, and developing, natural means of passive control through semiochemical means. The results of our R&D programme will be used to foster and encourage the harmony between humans and the creatures that inhabit our seas and oceans.
